It is election night here in Catalonia. I plan to rant a bit about it in the future, but I prefer to wait a few more days until I know what is really going on (aka who the heck is going to rule this country in the end). I am happy for the participation rate but a bit worried about oncoming days. There will be a debate in which I was hoping not to partake.
That aside, this was another board game mini-con/gathering weekend! I was runner-up in a Dominion tournament but I went home with my arms full anyways: I won Reiner Knizia’s “Black sheep” in Saturday’s night draw. The game library Marc and I are building grows slowly yet steadily (we need to list the games one day and categorize by number of players or something).
Barnalúdicas was pretty productive. I played three games for the first time:
- Eclipse (really complex and fascinating… to the point of delaying lunch 4 hours).
- Ubongo (but I had played the 3D version before).
- King of Tokyo (and we liked it so much that we ended up entering the tourney… I got to second/final round and almost won).
I had played Saboteur and Discworld before. No RPG games this year but a lot of new events that need to be investigated further). Yay.
Barnalúdicas is starting tomorrow and I plan to be there for the whole weekend. Barnalúdicas is the biggest event about board-games/role-playing games in Barcelona (maybe even in Spain?) so I am considerably excited.

Saturday I went to the last One Night Stand board game all nighter of the season.
*Yes, I do those*
I ended up playing five games between 8PM and 7AM: two I had played before (Saboteur and Britannia), the others new, some in a group of three, one in a group of ten… Amazing night.
Board games I have played for the first time since 2012 began: Galaxy Trucker, Arkham Horror, Team Manager (Blood Bowl), Steam and Britannia.
Liked them all (and ended scoring high in Galaxy Trucker for no reason at all)but Britannia has been quite the revelation: great for history fans and very exciting. And, of course, I loved the Nordrhein Westfalen map in Steam.
